Thank you for visiting our NEWS PAGE. We have a number of exciting projects in the pipeline at the moment and we would love to share these with you.
In addition to selling beautiful furniture we are delighted to be able to support the Help For Heroes Charity which is raising money to help our wounded servicemen. As part of our fund raising efforts I am taking part in the following event:
Help For Heroes Cycle Ride
A Bridge Too Far Bike Ride
Please following this link to my fund raising page:
www.bmycharity.com/rupertgreatrix
On the 13th September 2010 I am joining 200 cyclists on a 350 mile cycle ride through Belgium and onto Arnham in Holland and the site of the now immortalised 'A Bridge Too Far'.
Those of you who know me might (politely) agree that I am not known for my athletic prowess! Indeed I am determined to put the troubles of a once broken Femur and prosthetic hip to one side for the week in order to raise money for Help for Heroes which is such an amazing Charity.
The ride begins in Brussels and moves on via the Battle of Waterloo and Antwerp before joining the route taken in September 1944 by thousands of Paratroopers in Operation Market Garden. Our final destination will be Arnham and ‘The Bridge Too Far’.
Along the route we will visit battlefield sites and learn about their history as we as pay our respects to the fallen. We shall follow the story of this daring operation on this challenging cycle and will have a chance to join in the annual commemoration of those who fought here 66 years ago. This will be an amazing physical challenge but also an incredible journey remembering those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for freedom and for their country, as our Forces are still doing today.
For me this is a daunting challenge but one I am very excited to be part of. I will be very grateful for any donations, if I may encourage you to be as generous as you can it will spur me along and in turn help our amazing Heroes when they need help the most.
Donating through this page is simple, quick and secure. It is the most efficient way to give – so every donation goes further – and if you are a UK taxpayer and give Gift Aid consent the charity will receive an extra 28% at no cost to you.
4th September 2010
Help For Heroes Showroom Open Day
Pavilion Interiors are very proud to be associated with Help For Heroes the amazing charity supporting our wounded servicemen and women returning from operations with life changing injuries.
In September Rupert Greatrix, owner of Pavilion Interiors, is joining 200 cyclists on a 350 mile bike ride across Belgium and Holland culminating at Arnhem and the bridge known as ‘A Bridge Too Far’. After a 10 year career in the Army Rupert established Pavilion Interiors in 1996, now 14 years later Rupert feels it is time ‘to do his bit’ for these young men and women returning home with horrific injuries and scars both physical and mental from operations in Afghanistan.
As part of our fund raising campaign, on the 4th September we will be holding an open day with a difference! Within the showroom we will have lots of fun, interesting and informative workshops and demonstrations:
• ‘Antiques Roadshow’ with one of our antiques experts, John Ebdon, a regular on BBC Radio Berkshire, giving his opinion on your items. Feel free to bring along a suitable item and John will cast his expert eye and impart some of his extensive knowledge!
• Jewellery Care, one of our Jewellery experts will be on hand to offer expert advice and guidance on care, repair and cleaning of your Jewellery.
• Furniture Repair, Care & Restoration, we will have a demonstration area with our team of furniture finishers offering care and finishing advice on how to renovate, refinish and care for your furniture.
• Interior Design Workshop: Curtains and Things owner Morag Rice will be on hand to offer ideas, advice and guidance on how to bring colours and accessories together to maximum effect.
• Our wood turning expert Eric Voles will be on hand to show how he creates such amazing objects on his lathe.
• Moss End Bookshop will have a display of books and memorabilia with a Military twist.
• Cakes, Cakes, Glorious Cakes! No fund raising event can be without a Cake Stall and we will be no exception! A team of professional cake bakers will be on hand selling cakes with 100% off their proceeds generously going to Help For Heroes.
The showroom will be open from 10.00 until 5.00pm. No charge for entry but we will request a donation if you would like to enjoy the activities in the showroom.
In addition to these attractions we will have a seasonal sale and special offers throughout the store on our beautiful furniture, gifts and accessories.
We look forward to seeing you on the 4th September 2010, in the meantime I need to get on my bike for some more training!!
Thank you for reading this far down the page & I hope you are able to get involved with us to help our wounded servicemen.
Kind regards
Rupert Greatrix
